God’s Model for Fatherhood

“When I grow up, I want to be just like my dad.” Is that not the ultimate tribute for any father? Our lives speak loudly to those around us, especially the children in our home. However, the best intentions of the most virtuous dad too often get botched up in the execution. God designed fathers to be a vital part of family dynamics and throughout the Bible, the role of fathers is extreme important. Consequently, it is imperative that we look at God’s Word to find what His perfect example is; what is His model for what a father should be? Our Heavenly Father does not love ‘if’, or ‘when’ or ‘because’ - He just loves us; His love is unchangeable. He knows exactly who and what we are and He loves us anyway. We are part of His family, His children, we call Him “Abba, Father”. No one can pluck us out of His hand for He purchased us with a price, the blood of His own Son. Then He adopted us. For that reason, we are joint heirs and can share in the same inheritance that God prepared for His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Earthly fathers do pass away and they do leave their legacy, but our Heavenly Father is eternal and the source of life itself. He has given us His example to follow. Go out and make an impact on the world; be a Godly father! Mirror the image of fatherhood that God has given you.

“And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father”. Galatians 4:6
