Promises and Anticipation

Broken promises; they hurt and leave us feeling doubtful and afraid to trust again. Unfortunately, even for believing Christians, we must admit that we have broken promises, even to those we profess to love. Perhaps not intentionally, but as humans, we all fall short of the glory of God and struggle with our sin nature. However, we serve an awesome God who is incapable of breaking a promise. He is dependable, always faithful and completely trustworthy, saying, “My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.” (Psalm 89:34) And, Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Savior promised to return. It’s not just a possibility - it’s a certainty - He said so! Thus holding on to faith, with His power and His strength, our soul will continue “Standing of the Promises of God.” Look up and praise Him.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23

ANTICIPATION, looking forward …

As the sands of time slip through the hourglass of our lives, we live with an earnest anticipation, knowing that we are about to embark on the greatest adventure of our life. Such a beautiful thought - Jesus Christ returning in a cloud of glory - what joy, what anticipation we should feel. However, we must be prepared; He will come like a thief in the night. So, with that knowledge, share the good news of the gospel with someone you love; with excitement, share your hope in Christ, as we all feel the effects of sin and have tasted the salt of our own tears; and, with boldness share His promises, the promise of eternity with no more tears no more pain and no more suffering. Does this not warrant our anticipation as we watch and continue to pray - come, Lord Jesus, come.

“And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears we may have confidence and not shrink from Him in shame at His coming.” I John 2:28
